The goal of this assignment is to exercise your ability to argue your analysis. This assists in synthesizing various theories and will give you practice for your thesis defense. This is more about how to think through your concepts/theories in practical and flexible ways. Your midterm consists of a written portion of your presentation, conference paper style, including works cited. Your written portion should include: the title of your paper and needs to be based on the film, Toxi. Your prepared discussion of the film should include an analysis of the film through one of the key conceptual frameworks discussed thus far: colonialism, diaspora, race & representation. Your paper should have a controlling idea (i.e., thesis) — this will focus your discussion. You should engage with three (4) scholarly sources for your paper — at least one must be a scholarly article not presented as a class reading. Your written piece to accompany will be approximately six (6) pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12pt font, with works cited.
