Discussion 1: Assessing Performance Management
Performance management is a method of gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding the performance of employees, teams, groups, and the organization. Prior to participating in this discussion forum, read the articles Performance Management: Supporting Employees’ Success and 7 Ways To Re-Think Performance Management. In the article, Willer (2016) describes alternative methods for performance management. Choose two of the seven methods, and
- Explain how performance management can support employee retention.
- Describe how your organization could use two performance management methods.
- Discuss how the human resource manager could implement these methods.

You all have different experiences that have led you to this course, and you will all take your own journeys to discover your dream career. Creating a personal career path can allow you to visualize what that dream role could look like for you and create a path that will allow you to reach your desired career goal. Part A: For this discussion forum, please begin by creating a strengths chart where you list at least 10 professional strengths you possess or competencies you have mastered. Then, find a job description for your dream career (do not be afraid to dream big!) I choose CEO of Amazon. If you cannot find a job listing that fits you, do not be afraid to create your own.
Part B: Discuss the potential career path you could take to achieve your dream career. There may be only one or two roles you would need to take before you can apply for your dream career, or there may be more. Discuss the pros and cons of developing your personal career path, and explain how organizational leaders can use career pathing to motivate and retain employees in their organization.
