This week, we are delving into the history, philosophy, and sources of criminal law, the structure of our legal system, and the concept of justice as exhibited through the rule of law. To kick off our discussion, I want to draw a connection between our Criminal Law course and the American Criminal Justice System. The central symbol representing these ideals is Lady Justice, the Roman goddess of Justice, also known as Dike (Themis).
