A dissertation (10,000 to 12,000 words excluding
preliminaries, Reference list and appendices) on a topic that is relevant to
your programme of studies and follows the dissertation format guidelines
outlined below.
Understanding the challenges and
opportunities of cross-border e-commerce in Nigeria.
Remember that the word count is from 10,000 to the maximum
of 12.000 words. Once you go beyond 10,000 words then you should (even more than usual)
critically reflect on whether ‘more words’ is providing ‘more value’ for the
reader. Writing more ‘because you can’
may be counter-productive in terms of the mark awarded eg merely adding to a
sense of ‘description’ with little sense of
‘criticality’.
The range of words from 10,000 to 12,000 is to allow the writing up of
work from a wide range of disciplines/topics – where some work ‘naturally’ may
require more exposition eg qualitative work or some media/communications
topics.
