Juvenile violence continues to rise. In 2010, 1,642,600 juveniles were arrested. 1,000 juveniles were arrested for murder, 2,900 for forcible rape, 27,000 for robbery, and 44,000 for aggravated assault. In 2020, the Estimated number of juveniles arrested for all offenses was 424,300. 930 of the youth were arrested for murder, 12,000 were arrested for robbery, 19,140 for aggravated assault, 1,200 for arson, and 70,940 committed simple assault. This data shows that Juvenile violent crimes are continuing to rise.

Juvenile delinquents that develop violent behavior consist of multiple factors. These issues consist of Issues associated with family, psychological issues, violent homes, and communities. Studies show that harsh parenting and behavior toward children can cause children to develop violent aggressive behavior. The violent and aggressive behavior displayed in children develops through what they see in the home and the community. If youth live in communities where gangs dwell, the youth have a high likelihood of becoming gang-affiliated if they do not have the proper parental guidance.
