Health and diseases are constantly evolving and increasingly complex. They impact lives of people and animals around the planet. From devastating global pandemic to epidemics, to drug abuse and medical–industrial complex, issues pertaining to health and diseases impact every aspect life and everywhere around the world. Keeping our course topics fresh, timely, and relevant drives this activity that you will complete two times over the course. Each student will identify, critique, and share a recent (within the last three weeks) news article/ report relating in some way to a health issue we are learning about in this course (At least one of these matters should be from a developing country).
In a 500-800-word discussion post, each student will complete the following:
- Summarize key points of the news article in no more than 150 words.
- Analyze the main health issues discussed.
- Explain why this news story is important?
- Who is affected most by it?
- How are they affected?
- What is/are the social, economic and political consequences?
- Post a link to the new story (can be an audio or written piece)
Requirements:
- You must submit your essay via Canvas (Word Doc/ PDF format is preferred).
- Essay format
- Double-spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins all around.
- Length: 500–800 words (not including Works Cited page).
- Must include in-text citations and a Works Cited page.
- Citations should be in either MLA or APA style (pick one and use it throughout the paper). An excellent resource covering both styles is Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab (OWL).Links to an external site.
