SCENARIO:

You are the Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) in the preschool room and have bought some new resources for the room, including the children’s picture books Somebody’s Land: Welcome to Our Country (Goodes, Laing & Hard, 2022) and Day Break (McQuire & Chun, 2021). Your colleague, Kathy, tells you she will not be reading the new picture books to the children. She also tells you, ‘I don’t want to read the books as I do not feel confident about reading the books to the children’. Later, you overhear Kathy tell another colleague that the picture books are historically inaccurate and will only upset the children.
