Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is to discuss the impacts on the educational assessments outcome for students in education.
Initial Post:
There are several impacts on the educational assessment outcome for students in education—particularly a student’s ability to learn in the environment. States have various initiatives and legislation that serve as guides to assess student learning. The text discusses various initiatives and legislation that have impacted education assessment, including Response-to-intervention, Common Core Standards, and the No Child Left Behind Act.
Create a discussion addressing the bullets below:
- Discuss which approach you would argue is better at assessing the complexities of a student’s learning.
- Identify and discuss environmental assessments and systematic behavioral observations to improve classrooms and benefit students in the educational setting.
- Address the following information about your identified assessment:
- Test name, the date it was constructed, and its designed purpose
- An example “view” or image of the exam
- Criteria for when and how to use the test
- Explanation of how to interpret the test results
- Description of how the assessment would be used for diagnostic and intervention planning purposes.
- Identify the limitations of the test
- Test name, the date it was constructed, and its designed purpose
- Discuss how the assessment might assess the individual’s attitudes, aptitudes, achievements, interests, and personal characteristics.
- Address what could be done differently to foster more positive influences on students’ performance on educational tests and assessments. Is there a differential impact on students from various ethnic groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, and/or ability groups?
- Discuss how multiple sets of information and data can assist you with making decisions about students, programs, and services.
