Educator/Facilitator Resource and Teaching Guide for the adult education of basketball

Assignment 3: Individualized/collaborative adult education/community-based project – Developing and designing an Adult Education Project of your choice – 40%  Your final project is to choose an idea/concept/practice for designing an adult education project/learning unit in context of your choosing (conventional learning, community-based, immigration, sport/nature-based, and so on). In your reading, viewing and discussion over the semester, you have been introduced to many ideas, concepts, illustrations and examples to set down the underlying foundational ideas of how adult learning unfolds and what it takes to develop, evaluate and reflect critically on how learning is transferred. This will be a collaborative group project. Groups of four to five members seem to be the best size for collaborative learning in this context. In your group, you will identify the concept, knowledge, skill, disposition, that is crucial for educators, learners and contexts that will be the key focus of your resource. Then, you will each determine which of the competencies your group will primarily focus on in the development of learning task(s) designed to teach the concepts to adult learners. Many of the key concepts we have encountered this semester are just that: concepts and big, abstract ideas. Attaining the information is an important first step in grasping the principles of adult learning. To truly understand, however, it is important to experience and to see the relevance of the ideas in authentic ways that are meaningful to our lives and the lives of others. Develop an Educator/Facilitator Resource and Teaching Guide for the adult education concept of your choice.

1.Clearly identify your concept(s);

2.Outline the adult education learning outcomes you will focus on;
3.) Articulate specific learning objectives, your educational perspective, the audience
4. Provide clear, accessible explanations, illustrations, examples, based on your reading and research;
5.) Suggest and describe Learning Task(s) – (one larger task, ideally or 2-3 shorter activities) designed to teach the concepts that are age and developmentally appropriate. These may range from mini lessons to project-based learning activities. The learning tasks may be designed for individual learners or include cooperative group strategies suitable for project-based learning. They may require time spent in a community-based organization, adult education centre, or be suitable for a classroom-like environment. The learning may be most suitable for one discipline or draw on an interdisciplinary approach;
6.)Suggest supplementary readings, videos, books, adult literature, novels, films, poetry, art, websites etc., to support the teaching and learning;
7.)Design your Teaching Resource Guide for ease of reading and follow basic graphic design principles for presentation. Use graphics and organize the material to create an engaging interface. Use visuals to help communicate your ideas and generate interest in the material;
8.) Design a cover, include appendices if necessary, citing sources, additional resources, and attributing any images/diagrams to the sources; and 10. Save your Guide as a PDF file. As a group, you will present your project in class, and then post and share your document in a Moodle discussion forum. Share your insights and comment on your colleagues’ work. This will be an Open-Source resource and made available for each of you to use an adult education curricular heuristic.
