Effective prevention, early detection and personalized treatment in cervical cancer.

Our final project is a research paper in which a problem or question will be identified and analyzed from various angles and sources. You have been working on assignments that have brought you to this last step of finishing your paper.

End product: A 3-5 page analytical paper in APA style using 3-5 scholarly sources. Two of these need to be research articles, and the other 1-3 may be shorter articles or informational sources.

Presentations: You will present your research paper to the class on the last day of the course utilizing a PowerPoint (or Prezi).

Instructions

You have already completed:

  • selecting the topic
  • identifying sources
  • annotated bibliography (therefore you have read and understood your sources and identified important ideas from them)
  • Intro/outline/thesis: you received feedback and you created structure for your paper – that needs to be followed
  • peer editing of first draft

Outline (already submitted!):

From your introduction/thesis/outline, develop your paper. Expand the paragraphs as a first draft to share in peer editing and then as the final paper. Read the rubric below and be sure you are achieving the points that will be looked for as your paper is graded.

Paper details

  • 3-5 page analytical paper in APA style using 3-5 scholarly sources.
  • Demonstration of structure, as well as the use of evidence to support the arguement is the primary focus.
  • Proofread your work. Please consider installing the free version of Grammarly onto your computer and into Word.

 APA Basics

  • 12 pt font, Times New Roman
  • 1-inch margins on all sides (I’m not worried about the APA first page issue)
  • Double spaced
  • No extra spaces between paragraphs
  • No abstract on such a short paper
  • For example, in-text citations are (last name, date) (Dewey, 1934). Yes, the comma is needed. The citation comes after the words, but before the ending punctuation, keep it attached to the sentence you are referring to.
  • Direct quotes are when you are using exactly somebody else’s words. They are in quotation marks when less than 40 words. The citation must also include the page number where you found it (Dewey, 1934, p. 45).

You will create a reference page at the end of your paper with all of the references – this is also governed by APA.

  • List references on a new page.

Type “References” as the page heading, written in boldface, at the top center of the page.

  • Use double spacing.

  • Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work.

For multiple articles by the same author, list the entries in chronological order, from earliest to most recent.

  • Indent second and subsequent lines of each entry using a hanging indent

  • All references in APA end with a full stop except when the reference ends with a URL or a DOI.
