This is evident when he claims [quotation of the manifesto or the movie]”) – Get support in the scientific literature and explain why this is a risk factor (e.g. “As Raine and Hong (1998) indicate, the [risk factor] increases the probability of violent acts in several ways, first…) – Alternatively, you can also explain what risk factors are not present in Elliot’s life (e.g. “In Rodger’s case, the [risk factor] seem not to be present. In his own words [quotation of the manifesto or the video], which demonstrates that… (support of the scientific literature”). In this case, you write a 2.1. “Risk factors present” and a 2.2. “Risk factors not present”) The quotations in the text must be in cursive and between quotation marks (“”). databases (e.g. available at MIUN’s library, google scholar, etc.) B- Read the pdf titled “Elliot Rodger Manifesto” C- See the video titled “Elliot Rodger” available in Moodle D- You can search on the internet (e.g. Google) to know about the crimes committed by Elliot. It will turn easier to read the Manifesto. E- Write an essay (3000 words ± 10%) in which you explain Elliot’s risk factors for criminal behaviour you may have identified through the Manifesto and the video. You can also tell about risk factors that do not seem to be present in Elliot’s case. The structure of the essay shall follow that of a scientific text 3- CONCLUSION: Finish with a brief conclusion that provides an explanation for Elliot’s criminal behaviour so that the reader is able to understand why Elliot Rodger committed the crimes. 4- REFERENCES: Write the references of the authors you cited in the text. Remember to follow APA style (see the resource “scientific writing). The references do not count for the 3000 (±10%) words. Note 1: Quotations (from the Manifesto or the video) must have the fewest amount of words possible. Transcript unnecessary words in a quotation will revert to fewer scoring points (see scoring criteria in the table on the next page). Identify the Manifesto quotations with the page number and the video quotations with the minute and second. The page number in the manifesto is the page number that the pdf file identifies. Note 2: Whether you identify several risk factors and lack of space to write about them all, just briefly identify them in the introduction, and in the second point tell about the ones you think are the most important. Note 3: Use the following as references to include in the reference list: Rodger, E. (2014a). My Twisted World – The Story of Elliot Rodger https:#elearn20.miun.se/moodle/mod/resource/view.php?id=776414 Rodger, E. (2014b). The Day of Retribution.
