Instructions
Your paper should define and address a problem and look at potential solutions to the problem. A “problem” can take many forms and does not necessarily have to center on “issues.” For instance, a “problem” might be one of interpretation. (In other words, it could involve what a cultural production, such as a popular film or book, can tell us about our attitudes, fears, and/or ideological beliefs. In this case, the “solution” would be to identify the underlying beliefs the “text” supports). We will talk extensively about this approach to research over the next several weeks and how to approach this type of discourse.
The research essay must contain in-text citations for anything that is listed in the Works Cited page. If you include an in-text citation that is not in the Works Cited page, 30 points will be deducted. Similarly, if you Works Cited page contains entries that are not cited in the text, 30 points will be deducted
