Executive Memo on Privacy concerns and information sharing in health information exchange

You will prepare an executive memo designed to accompany your executive briefing presentation. This assignment is derived from your presentation and should address the same topic.

You will succinctly summarize the key points of your presentation into a two-page, single spaced memo directed to the manager.  As with your presentation you should define the topic and it’s relevance, provide the organizational context and setting, identify key benefits and challenges in addressing the topic, articulate any ethical, privacy, or security issues, and make recommendations for effective action to address the topic.

This assignment is unlike your usual academic paper; an executive memo follows a different set of style standards than academic writing.  Often organizations have a preferred format and structure that need to be followed.  If you are currently working in an organization and prefer to use that organization’s memo format and structure please do so.  Otherwise, it’s strongly recommended that you review the George Mason University and Forbes articles, linked in the syllabus, as guides for how you will format your memo.  Professional writing, unlike academic writing, does not require extensive citations and references.  However, if you use a direct quotation, copy a table or graph, or otherwise directly copy the work of another person you are expected to give credit.
