This week’s Annotated Bibliography Writing
Assignment invites you to summarize and evaluate three sources that you
can use for your Persuasive Research Paper. In this discussion, you’ll
practice using Nightingale Library’s CINAHL Complete database to find
full-text sources and you’ll share the results with the class.
Start by reviewing this video tutorial on how to search the CINAHL Complete database:
CINAHL Databases – Basic Searching Tutorial
Navigate to the Nightingale Library via your MyNightingale menu. Find
the CINAHL Complete database. Using the search strategies outlined in
the video, conduct a search for full-text sources related to your
Persuasive Research Paper’s topic. Don’t forget to make use of the
limiters and expanders to refine your results.
As you search, take your time and be persistent. Vary your keywords. Try out different search tools to refine your results.
For your initial post, share the best source you can find with the class. Include the following:
- The title, author(s), and publication year of the source
- A brief, 2-3 sentence summary of the source
- An explanation of how you think you’ll use the source in your paper
Finally, share your experience using the CINAHL Complete database.
- Was it easy or challenging to find useful sources?
- How were you able to limit or narrow your search results?
- If you have questions about searching the database, post them here for your peers or the professor to respond to.
Note the:
- 5 W Questions
- SMART Check
- CRAAP Test
The video is pretty good too.
As you do the assignments, be sure to read all of the instructions so you don’t accidentally miss something.
