To complete your charge, you will need to select and describe, in enough detail, to communicate your understanding of the concepts to the users of your text, the three main elements (in your view) that describe the theory of 1. Bandura’s social cognitive theory, and 2. Skinner’s behavioral analysis. Additionally, you have been asked to select two other theorists, about whom you will create the same three-element narrative. The theorists you select are entirely up to you, so consider those you consider the most compelling or controversial. Once you have prepared your narratives for the four theorists, you have also been asked to prepare a brief “compare and contrast,” to show your readers how their work and views relate to each other. A couple of points as you prepare for this exam: 1. This is obviously a long and thoughtful process, with several elements to focus on and prepare. With that in mind, please prepare a one-page outline of what you would like to include in your museum. This should be a scaffold only with the main points and terms you would like to include. You are required to turn in your outline with your exam. 2. In keeping with my practice of offering extra credit opportunities to maximize your success in the course, there will be a series of short answer questions on the exam. These will not be as elaborate as the essays you have seen over the semester; the questions can be answered in a few sentences. The questions will be taken from material throughout the semester. The goal of this final exam is to capture the evolution and complexity of the field of personality. Remember, besides making sure your conceptual elements are correct, you can make this essay be about anything you want. Use your career goals to shape the elements you focus on. Use your creativity to make your essay funny, suspenseful, or insightful. As usual, I am much more concerned with detail than length. The more thoughtful and concise your preparation, the less time you must spend during the actual exam. So, what do you have to do during the final exam period? Transpose your outline into the narrative of your textbook! While there is a fair amount of writing that day, most of the work is done in the days leading to the exam, with the benefit of your course materials. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to respond to some extra credit questions during that period.
