Sales Forecasting for a Retail Store – Predicting sales for a retail business based on historical data. 3. Comparison of Airline Trip Prices – Analyzing trip price patterns for airlines based on factors such as time of booking, location, availability, and other variables. choose one The group project details can be submitted as a project report or presented to the class (with slides as the submission) in the last week of the course. Each individual should also submit a one-page report regarding individual contributions to the project. The project should relate to the following topics: 1. Data mining and analysis using tools covered in the class 2. Data scraping and visualization using the tools covered in the class Project evaluation The deadline for project deliverables (reports or slides) is fixed as specified in the schedule. No late submission will be accepted. When submitting projects, you must submit ALL relevant files (e.g., codes, screen captures) and reports. Each group should make one submission. The project grade accounts for 20% of the total grade. Projects will be evaluated based on several relevant elements. Generally, these will include: • Project objectives: identifications of users, and requirements • Scope of the project: the degree that the project is useful in a real-world setting • Depth of analysis: correct and in-depth use of analysis techniques covered in the course and additional concepts identified by the team • Software execution: software executes correctly • Correct use of concepts: appropriate use of concepts covered in class • All major work inputs and outputs should be captured (via screenshots, data files, codes, etc.) and reported in the project report. • Scope of the data: the real nature of the data and the size of the data • Quality of report: the writing of the report & depth of reported analysis • Structure of the report: the organization and comprehensibility of the project report and its appendices • Teamwork and contribution to the idea generation and implementation in the team project Optionally, the teams may present their project to the class to showcase their work and help the rest of the class learn from it. While presentations are optional, this may help students with their presentation and storytelling skills in front of a friendly audience. The teams that do the presentation may submit their report in PPT format. The other teams must write a report and submit it in PDF format. Teams opting for team presentations for their projects may do so during the last two weeks at the end of the semester.
