This week, you will be submitting the rough draft for Section Two of your final project.
In this final project, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of cultural competency, culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, and equity through the creation of a professional portfolio with resources designed to help teachers, principals, school counselors, and/or nurse practitioners implement equitable practices. Section Two: Cultural Competency, Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Pedagogy, and Equity Resources Portfolio (100 points)
- You will prepare a 3-4 page cultural competency, culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, and equity digital portfolio that includes a list of particular classroom, counseling, or health resources designed to support the learning and development of the students/patients in their communities.
- Please utilize these categories of cultural identity to help you to identify areas of need for your particular student or service populations:
- racial and ethnic identities
- socially and economically disadvantaged students/patients
- LGBTQIA+ students/patients; and students/patients with the full range of gender identities
- full range of English learners: Standard English learners, students/patients with disabilities, and students/patients with other learning needs in the least restrictive environment
- educational and/or health care goals and purposes
- parental role in education/health care
- communication styles (verbal and nonverbal, if applicable)
- how to best reach and teach these children, adolescents, and/or adults
