This paper is separated into three different segments. The first is a short, completion exercise in week 5 where I want to see what your topic will be for the paper (2 pts – all or none); the second is due the following week (#6) – a 1-page outline/summary of your paper, or, the first draft page of the 3-4 pages written out towards the full paper, in order to show that you are on track with the assignment (6 pts); and the third segment is a final three to four page paper due in week 13, where you will submit a Word document inside Brightspace that I will grade according to topic, research/citations, writing quality/punctuation, and analysis (20 pts). I will provide a rubric in Brightspace to outline more detailed expectations for the final paper. (Three to four pages are considered: double spaced, 12-point standard font, one-inch margins, approximately 750 – 1000 words)
For this research study, I’ve chosen Mexico, Cuba, and the Caribbean to help answer my question: can the emergency practices of Mexico, Cuba, and the Caribbean during a hurricane provide a new model of response for the United States?
