Length: 8 to 10 minutes (strictly enforced)
Format:
- Please ensure that you speak with a vibrant voice and use expressive body language, as needed
- Reading the presentation either from notes or from the screen will severely, and negatively impact your grade
- Do not write out entire sentences on the slides; use the slides for key names, concepts, and very short quotes
- No more than 6 lines of text per slide, and 6 words per line or text
- Include images where appropriate (to support understanding and provide visual interest). These images must be cited.
- Professional template, no animations or noticeable transition effects
- Each presentation will follow the structure described below
- Proper APA citations are required on slides
Content
- You are giving a formal presentation of your Literature Review project
- Your speech should not repeat what the slides say but should be connected to what is displayed on the screen
- The structure of the slides and your speech must be as follows:
- Title slide
- Introduction slide: Who are you? What issue have you focused on for your Literature Review? Why is it important?
- Background slide: briefly describe where the issue has originated, major stages in its history, and what the current status of the issue/debate is
- Viewpoints slides: demonstrate the two or more camps of thought on the issue – focus on what the disagreement is about
- Sources and Language slides: talk about the sources for two viewpoints you have found, any observations on the language features and rhetorical approaches that are present in your data. This should be the largest part of your presentation.
- Opinion/reflection slide: your opinion on the topic and/or any personal reflections from conducting the literature review
- Closing remarks
- References slide
- Call for questions (Q&A slide)
