This is the instructions for this assignment from the Professor:
In Module A, we saw how Historian Howard Zinn used Columbus’s log and de las Casas’s journal to construct a story. Also, remember that he told the story from the standpoint of the Native Peoples. You did something similar to this in Module C when you took a position on the American Revolution from the standpoint of someone from that era. In the rest of the Modules, you practiced working with Primary Sources which form part of the foundation of the Historian’s work.
For our final Module, we’ll continue in this vein. Choose any two or three primary sources from Voices of Freedom and/or from this list Download list. Using those primary sources, create a narrative, a story, a short history on the topics those source address. The sources you choose should be related to each other in topic, theme, or chronology, and help you create a single story. You may not use a primary source you’ve already used for a previous Module Activity.
Use the textbook Give Me Liberty! to help you provide context for your story.

General Guidelines for Each Paper
Your paper:
- should be 3-5 pages long, double-spaced (Remember one of the statements in the Survival Manual: “The simple completion of an assignment often earns a C grade”).
- should only utilize the textbooks Give Me Liberty! and Voices of Freedom
- should include relevant quotes of both primary and secondary sources (i.e. Give Me Liberty!)
- should include an introduction and a conclusion that delineate the topic and tie the paper together
- should be divided into paragraphs
- should be checked for grammar and spelling errors
Remember to:
- quote your sources to illustrate your points
- cite sources (provide author, title, and page number) if you paraphrase or otherwise use information from a source
- provide context (“the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed”) for your topic. Briefly, what is the background to the topic? How did we get to the point in time that you are discussing in your paper.
All these are identical to the feedback you’ve received throughout the semester, so grading for this last paper will be more strict.
