“How a Knowledge of Family and Society Can Help One Function Effectively in One’s Vocation” – 200 points
The research paper is a Signature Assignment to help assess a program outcome for the BS in Human Development degree. Some of the program outcomes for this degree are that upon completion of the degree students will be able to:
- Effectively function in church settings and other organizations.
- Recall prominent counseling theories in the field of Human Development.
- Relate a basic explanation of human development.
Combining these in relation to HD4409 Family and Society, this course has a course program outcome:
- Relate a basic explanation of the development of the family in society to more effectively function in various life settings.
With this in mind, you are to take the understanding of family and society that is studied in this course and apply it to your career and vocation. You can apply it to the career or vocation you are currently in or to the one you plan to enter in the future after graduation. For example, if you are or plan to be a pastoral counselor, what is the significance of the content of this course for your career/vocation?

Or, if you like working from an outline, here is a sample outline for a paper where the content section is devoted to someone going into the career/vocation of a “pastoral counselor” (merely used as an example) and I note where you can find information for almost everything right in your textbook:

If you wrote only one short paragraph on each of those suggested items, your four pages would be filled up very quickly.

Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition, as your style standard.
General requirements
Approximately four pages long, double spaced, 1-inch margins for 8 and ½ by 11 inch paper, 12 point font size type (preferably Times New Roman), not counting cover page.

Research requirements: A minimum of four academic, scholarly sources should be consulted – scholarly books or scholarly journal articles; avoid blogs and web pages as sources.
