EDU 202 focuses on issues of education reform, diversity, and equity. You will conduct a research project that explores the following question: What does it mean to be an educator who affirms culturally sustaining pedagogy? For this assignment, you will complete your annotated bibliography that will outline the writing of your final paper.
Your Research Project will focus in on one area of diversity or equity in education. You will identify a problem and propose a solution. Sample research questions:
- What can data tell us about student achievement when we compare various demographic categories based on race or linguistic diversity? What strategies are schools employing to address gaps in student achievement data?
- What research-based training exists that I can access to become an anti-racist educator?
- What have educators and schools learned about opportunity gaps in remote education during COVID-19 school closures? How are they using those lessons to improve instruction for the 2020-2021 school year?
- What are the current debates about critical race theory in schools?
These are only samples. You choose your topic- and it does not need to be one listed above.
