How do Luka’s relationships with fire and water explore the complexity of children’s agency? Requirements:
· Approximately 50% of your essay must focus on Luka and the Fire of Life.
· Approximately 25% of your essay should support your analysis of Luka and the Fire of Life by integrating analysis for a novel that you did not use for your Short Writing Assignment.
· Approximately 20% should integrate your analysis of a visual medium, one that you did not use for your Short Writing Assignment, to support your analysis of Luka and the Fire of Life. Remember, when working with a visual medium you must include visual evidence and analysis.
· Reserve about 5% of your essay for your introduction and conclusion.
· If you choose Fledgling as your second novel, you do not need to include a visual source (but are certainly free to).
· You are not officially required to include scholarly materials (course assigned or otherwise) to clarify, contextualize, or substantiate your ideas, but for the life of me I cannot understand why a student in a 4th-year course would choose not to do so: completing the assignment without drawing on available scholarship seem profoundly difficult, but it is possible. I will let you decide how much scholarship you choose to draw on, and how you choose to draw on it.
