A paper of ~2,000 words are required to further explore the research topic.
Topic: How do volcanic soils of Mount Etna in Sicily influence agricultural productivity and soil fertility in Mediterranean ecosystems?
My research will explore how the volcanic soils of Mount Etna in Sicily contribute to agricultural productivity and soil fertility within the Mediterranean ecosystems. The study will begin by examining the physical and chemical composition of volcanic soils, particularly their high mineral content, which includes nutrients like phosphorus, potassium, and trace elements vital for crop growth. The second part of the research will focus on the unique soil texture and water retention capacity of Etna’s volcanic soils, which provide a distinct advantage in the typically dry Mediterranean climate. Additionally, the research will cover historical agricultural practices in the region, focusing on crops like vineyards, olives, and citrus that thrive in these soils. The final area of investigation will address potential long-term sustainability issues related to soil erosion, nutrient depletion, and human activity. This can be found in pdf titled “SoilsSust_Proposal.” Please refer to this document as you will find references and an example of paper structure. I have provided pdf links for any reference that I found that I deemed appropriate for this paper. References are not limited to just these 5. Thank you in advance.
