Prompt:
How Does Integrating Multisensory Elements in Digital Interfaces Impact User
Perception and Interaction?
What
it entails: I would talk about the change to a digital world and how it is
mostly visual and auditory. How incorporating other sense like tactile,
olfactory, and gustatory factors reinvent user engagement, learning, and satisfaction.
I would analyze the current limitations, analyze case studies, and propose new
ideas to help this “problem”.
INSTRUCTIONS
Individual Paper
We discuss a wide variety of topics in this course, from how people think to state-of-the-art technology. Each student needs to select a paper topic to be approved by the instructor. The topic, along with an annotated biography, needs to be submitted by April 11. The final paper is due on May 3.
This paper is a research paper where the student is required to explore an issue in depth, not just provide an overview. The length of the paper is between 2,000 and 2,500 words, not counting the bibliography. References to research articles and clear and correct reasoning must back up all claims.
Obviously, plagiarism of any kind is not allowed. Check out http://www.plagiarism.org/ if you are not sure what plagiarism is and isn’t.
The paper will be graded using the following criteria:
-
Proper focus and completeness: This is a research paper that needs to explore a topic in depth, address all the relevant issues and omit irrelevant ones. (20 points)
-
Your insights: Are there any deep thoughts, comments, etc. of your own in there or is it just a rehash of stuff found in the sources? Rehash is bad; unique insights are indeed good. However, don’t just make up stuff or provide your opinion. What you say must be backed up by literature, your own research (probably not applicable for most of you) and clear reasoning. (20 points)
-
Writing: The paper needs to be written clearly, using concise explanations, having a good organization, etc. Crippled sentences and typos are no-nos. So are repetitiveness, meaningless collections of big words, etc. (20 points)
-
References: All sources must be referenced. All quotations need to be presented as quotations. However, don’t have myriads of quotations. Rewrite the idechatas in your own words and provide the references. (20 points)
-
Length and formatting: The paper must be 2,000 to 2,500 words long, not counting the bibliography. The paper must follow some formatting guidelines of your choice. I suggest you select one from a professional publication you tend to read. (20 points)

You will turn in your papers in electronic form via Brightspace.
