In the previous part of the assignment  ( YOU WILL BE PROVIDED AS ATTACHED ) you developed a question and associated rationale related to dental hygiene practice. You may use that same question for this part of the assignment or you may choose to develop a new question upon which to build your work. This assignment requires you to explore widely and wildly in search of studies that shed light on your question.

Directions

The following points provide more detailed information about this part of the assignment .To successfully complete the assignment you will develop the following documents and send them to me electronically:

A) Summary and analysis of three studies related to your question

  1. Develop a clear and concise outcomes/research question relevant to dental hygiene practice. Do not hesitate to use the one you developed in Assignment 3A and do refine it further depending on the feedback you received. Also feel free to explore other questions. You need to ensure that the question interests you given that you will be spending a lot of time thinking and writing about it.
  2. YOU MUST Refine the rationale to support your question from assignment 3A as per feedback you received. You do not need to include the rationale in this assignment (3B); however, the importance and significance of your question should read clearly in your final literature review paper (assignment 3C).
  3. Identify key words for your searching strategy; find relevant terms based on the vocabulary used by various databases. Include these keywords in your submission.
  4. Find further studies to shed light on your question; these studies need to be credible and relevant to your question.
  5. Select the 3 most important/relevant studies related to your question and summarize & critique these three studies collectively (as a group of studies – not individually) At least one study must be qualitative (eg: conducted focus groups or interviews to collect data) – (750 words maximum using the following headings:
    1. purpose,
    2. methods,
    3. results,
    4. discussion, and
    5. critique)
  6. Develop a conclusion to your question based on the three articles that you have analyzed in depth. Relate the conclusion to the actual question you posed. How well do these studies address or answer your research question? The studies should provide depth for understanding the nature of your question (maximum 250 words for conclusion; thus, 1000 words maximum for assignment).
  7. This assignment is intended to support the development of your literature review paper, by practicing collating and presenting themes together as they are found across the literature.

B) An outline for a literature review

  1. Develop a draft outline including headings and sub-headings for a literature review paper related to your question. Your ideas will be briefly stated under the headings. These headings will help you organize your thoughts and subsequent writing of your literature review in Assignment 3C. There is no word count, but please be brief.
  2. You can also go to any journal article and look at the headings used so that you can get ideas about your outline. I am asking you to construct an argument about your question. You need to identify the headings that you would use. Using point form, you can then summarize what you would be discussing under each heading.
