DO:
Refer to the assigned material with phrases such as “according to [the source’s name]” to acknowledge that your post is about a particular work on the issue being addressed. Omitting sources is an academic offense. Make practice of it.
Use supporting evidence and examples.
Use in-text citations when presenting quotes (see guidelines in each discussion prompt).
Break your post into thematic paragraphs that clearly respond to each question prompted.
Revise your post for grammar and cohesion.
Learn from your peers and encourage each other. Ask questions about an idea.
DO NOT:
Submit a post without reference or acknowledgement of a source.
Utilize outside sources as posts assess assigned material. In other words, you should not need to “Google” as everything you need is provided. If the materials provided do not suffice, and you feel that you want to explore further resources, a bibliography is required. Please note: I use academic sources or credible sources that are in line with the academic literature on a particular topic. Please be sure that outside sources you wish to utilize are credible, preferably peer reviewed. Ask me, I can guide you.
Use Wikipedia or Google in lieu of academic sources provided.
Post as a single paragraph mixing different topics and ideas as one.
Rush statements without explanation and/or examples.
Use “I” and personal opinion as discussions are not based on personal perceptions.
