By March 10, you will upload a working bibliography of the sources you have found on
your topic. You should have a minimum of ten academic sources. Academic sources
include peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and book chapters published by academics
as well as working papers by academics that are posted online (such as at
www.ssrn.com). In addition, reports from governments, intergovernmental organizations
like the World Bank, and credible think tanks and activist organizations also may be
valuable sources. Blogs, like those mentioned above, can point you in the direction of
academic research that might be helpful. News media might provide inspiration for your
research question, but they lack the depth of data and analysis to be helpful. If you have
any questions about assessing the credibility of a source, just ask.
When I describe this as a ‘working’ bibliography, what I mean is that you will continue
to build your bibliography as you continue your research beyond this due date as you
work toward your final paper.
