Essay prompt was: Discuss the impact that an Omics technique has made/could make to aiding the prevention/diagnosis/prognosis/treatment of a disease Topic I’ve found is the most relevent is ‘Genomics’ Please find the essay plan attached – along with a good example of the style of work required.I have included the marking rubric with the structure of the expected essay – please use the guidelines as an expectation of what is needed to be written, this was predominantly structured a while back using AI but I have adapted parts to a structure that I feel is needed. Important:
· Choose a suitable title for your essay once you have decided on the specific topic you would like to cover.
· A written abstract is required that briefly ‘sets the scene’ before stating the aim of the essay, introducing the main points that are discussed and providing an objective conclusion (usually around 200-250 words).
· The main text should firstly (and briefly) orientate the reader; introducing key concepts and past findings in an engaging manner that also enables the reader to appreciate the importance of the essay question.
· Evidence of extensive reading (of resources provided during the module and further primary research articles) and understanding of the question is provided by critical analysis (breakdown) and evaluation (weighing-up) of the issues from several different perspectives.
· Complex concepts need to be explicitly clarified to demonstrate your comprehension.
· Use subheadings to make the text easier to navigate.
· The use of figures and tables to illustrate your points or summarise data is encouraged. They are an effective way to convey information concisely. They should be embedded within the text of the essay at the point that they are first cited and should be numbered in the order they are cited. Figures and tables should have a title and brief legend, and should be referred to from the main text at a suitable point.
· In the conclusion, draw on all the material discussed in the main text and consider current and future (unpublished) areas of research. Avoid simple regurgitation of points from the main text.
I would need at least 15 different references from primary research sources. – talk more about the impact and include a breadth of other omics in the essay (differences and why they have pros and cons which have an impact)
