HSCI 336 Online: Health Aspects of Drug UseZOOM PRESENTATION DIRECTIONS and RUBRIC
ZOOM PRESENTATION DIRECTIONS
Introductions: Students will select one alcohol, tobacco, or other drug issue of their choice to create a brief voiceover presentation using presentation software such as PowerPoint. Presentations should be a maximum of (no longer than) 6 minutes but no shorter than 5 minutes. Students will be graded on their ability to synthesize and prepare an effective recorded presentation using CSUN’s free Zoom software or a video recording software of your choice.
Presentation Requirements: At a minimum, presentations should include the following content:
- Overview of your chosen substance (overview of your presentation, explain why the chosen ATOD issue is a public health concern).
- Severity of the alcohol, tobacco, or other drug use to include current statistics, facts and epidemiology, trends, and populations/locations most affected or at risk.
- Prevention programs, treatment programs AND policies that currently exist to address your chosen substance. Local programs should also be considered such as Alcoholics Anonymous or others. Ensure you are thinking more broadly than just treatment programs. Harm reduction models are welcomed to be included.
- At least two professional references such as online journal articles or valid and reliable websites such as SAMHSA based on your chosen content sited in your paper (less than 6 years old).
For complete criteria, refer to the Instructor Evaluation Grading Form below. For instructions on how to record a voiceover PowerPoint via Zoom, see the resource document under the corresponding link in Canvas. You are not required to use PowerPoint and can use a presentation software of your choice. *******You are also not required to use Zoom and can use any video recording software of your choice. Using your camera is welcomed but also is optional. It is your responsibility to make sure your recorded video presentation is recorded correctly and uploaded to Canvas correctly for your peers and myself to view.
Please note you must reference in APA format (7th Edition) and your citations/references must be provided both per slide based on the corresponding content (footnotes or superscripts or referencing next to the content are all fine – just ensure you are referencing per slide) and also at the end of the slide as a reference slide.
Note: You are presenting on the facts, not your own opinion or bias.
You will submit a link to your recorded Zoom presentation under the corresponding link in Canvas. You will also be required to view and comment on TWO (2) of your peers in the course (75 words minimum). Comments must be thoughtful and insightful; relating to the course readings or content.
- Grading Requirements: Presentations will be evaluated by the instructor based on the rubric below. This project is worth 100 points. Due by Sunday, April 27 at 11:59pm PT via link on Canvas. You must also watch and respond to two (2) of your peer’s presentations.
