Reflections on travel articles (30pts).
Read three (3) hospitality/tourism-related articles from any of the following sources (probably from the travel sections): CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, Travel Weekly and/or USA Today. Look for articles that appeal to your interests and/or future in tourism. Write one paragraph for each article and include the following information:
- Summarize the main thesis of the article (2pts).
- What industry organizations, businesses, companies, and other associations are mentioned in the article (2pts)?
- What external forces influence the travel and tourism industry in this article (e.g. political, economic, social, technological, legal, or environmental). Explain the ways these factors influence the industry (2pts)?
- How do the external forces contribute to the products, services, or overall experience for customers or visitors (2pts)? You might consider conducting further research to gather extra information in order to respond thoroughly to this question.
- In what ways does the topic relate to your interests and future career areas in tourism (2pts)? You will not receive points if the article is irrelevant to you and your future career.
Format Requirements (Up to 20% deduction if not followed).
- Include a word count at the end of the discussion (minimum of 1000 words for the travel section discussion post).
- Follow APA citation style.
- All assignments should be written in a professional manner including grammar and punctuation.
Rating factor for discussion post includes:
- Comprehensiveness (10pts): discussion includes all the components required as per content guidelines;
- Depth of analysis and justification (10pts): discussion includes detailed justification using research and academic references to support findings;
- Organization (10pts): identifiable structure is presented in a purposeful, interesting, and effective sequence.
