Hello Professor and classmates, 

Interventions disrupt or interrupt existing processes. They are designed as a way for the organizational development professional to intervene and improve current company processes. Intervention strategies may consist of different events where the OD consultant implements team building exercises, strategic planning initiatives, and improvements to company culture (Anderson, 2020).

Organizational development interventions have many objectives that may include improving performance, developing members of management, building relationships and trust, increasing job satisfaction, or managing change.  Organizational development provides a systematic process for companies to improve their effectiveness by applying behavior based practices focused on the people side of the business (Emad, 2024).

Selecting the correct intervention can be the key to implementing a successful change initiative. The three types of interventions listed in the textbook include individual interventions, team interventions and whole organization interventions (Anderson, 2020).

Individual interventions are those that are targeted at the individual employee. These type of interventions are focused on developing the employee and include such initiatives as supporting their career goals, resolve conflicts or help them to better understand their own behaviors, emotions or motivations (Cosentino, n.d.).

Team interventions in OD help groups of people in an organization become more effective. These interventions use team building strategies to achieve company goals and objectives.  Teams work with a professional to define the issues within the team and focus on ways such as better communication, conflict resolution or relationship building to improve the efficiencies of the team (Team Building Interventions: Step by Step Guide, 2022).

Organizational interventions are actions that can improve the overall performance, satisfaction or other effectiveness of the entire company populations. These large-scale interventions are generally done for such this as to increase productivity, reduce costs, improve morale or reduce attrition (Anderson, 2020).

In the case of A to Z Apps, the company has struggled to meet production needs within the product design and development team. . The OD consultant, with the assistance of a survey implemented by the human resources department has determined that the  low productivity is due to poor management, lack of training and poor company culture (The Top 7 Causes of Low Productivity Levels, 2023) Due to this problem being a team based issue, the intervention method best chosen would be a team intervention.
