Unraveling Intervention Components [WLOs: 1 and 2] [CLOs: 3 and 4]

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, carefully review Chapter 9, being especially mindful of the objectives of each type of intervention. (hello writer, this is attached.)

For this discussion,

  • Define the objectives of the intervention process.
  • Describe each intervention type and provide an example of its use.
  • Explain your specific change problem.
  • Define the type of intervention that you will use and why it fits your problem.

Your initial post must be specific, significant, and at least 300 words. You must support your post with at least two credible resources in addition to the course text to defend your understanding of the intervention process and the relationship to problem solving.

Guided Response: Respond to at least three of your classmates’ posts during the discussion week. Responses to classmates must be substantive and further the discussion by reviewing the various intervention types and the selection made by your classmate for their problem. Always cite and reference the resources in your discussion post and response.

******CLASSMATES DISCUSSION POST: *******

Hello Professor and classmates,

An intervention in the workplace is usually done in efforts to solve a problem in the workplace. “Organizational development (OD) interventions are programs and processes designed to improve an organization’s effectiveness by creating actions that change leadership styles, organizational culture, structures, or behavioral patterns. Successful development projects require specific planning to maximize the effectiveness and potential of both people and businesses.” (Cosentino)

There are different types of interventions, but the main ones can be identified as individual interventions and team interventions.

Individual interventions are when the OD consultant works with the employee solely. “Interventions at this level can include one-to-one mentoring, individual growth plans, buddy systems and work shadowing programs.” (Smart)

Team interventions have the same idea, but they are done in groups. “Team forming interventions are focused on helping improve those dynamics, creating alignment and helping groups get to know each other more deeply in a safe environment.” (Smart)

For the diversity, equality and inclusion problem at A to Z Apps organization the problem can use the benefits of both interventions. Sometimes at an organization both individual and group interventions can take place when it is a bigger problem.

For this problem we will first start with the individual interventions and hold interviews and have one-on-one meetings to try and see where the employees are with DEI. Then, we can move on to team building interventions where we will incorporate more employees into the dynamics and activities that we will be implementing about DEI.
