For the current activity, you will watch a role play between two BCBAs. As they discuss issues on their meeting agenda, you will discover or find one or more ethical violations of the Ethical Code for Behavior AnalystsLinks that they committed and will give the appropriate action and rationale for each BACB code of ethics violation they comitted.

At the top of your response, identify all specific violation areas, that have been covered thus far in the course, including a brief descriptor title for each code (Example: 2.01 – Providing Effective Treatment, 2.11.a – Obtaining Informed Consent)
Next, you will copy all of the codes that you just identified and paste them below. Next to each, you will concisely write the following using 50-100 words per code:
Appropriate Action: What should the BCBA have done instead of what they did?
Rationale: Why it would be more ethical to do it that way? Why is this code important to those being served?
(When describing what the BCBA should have done, describe the actual observable actions they should have taken. Non-example: describing the inverse (e.g., the BCBA should refrain from…)
(Use the video as the context for your answer. Non-examples: the BCBA should follow the law/code; the BCBA should supervise their RBTs according to the code
Rationales should be specifically relevant to the code/situation. Non-examples: This is ethical because the code states… Ethically, they should not…
When you are done, please remember to save and then submit your response. )
Example
Here is an example of a response:
Code Violations:
2.01 Accepting Clients
2.11.a, Records and Data
4.07.d Environmental Conditions that Interfere with Implementation
2.01 Accepting Clients:
Appropriate Action: If the BCBA did not have experience or training with children with Tourette’s Syndrome, they should have enlisted the help of a BCBA with expertise in that area so that the child receives the most appropriate and effective services.
Rationale: This is important because someone without the appropriate training cannot be effective or nearly effective as someone who does have this background
2.11.a, Records and Data:
Appropriate Action: The records for the child’s assessment and the expert’s recommendations and feedback should have been in a file created and maintained at all times so that either of the BCBAs would be able to provide service oversight to the child at any given time.
Rationale: This way the child would receive effective treatment during any transitions, such as illness of the supervising BCBA.
4.07.d Environmental Conditions that Interfere with Implementation:
Appropriate Action: The BCBAs should have had a plan and trained the staff working with the child.
Rationale: The staff would have learned the differences in implementing procedures for this child that might be different than what they have previously learned and it is more likely that the expert’s recommendations are carried out and that child will make progress.
