Introduction
In this final activity for the week, you will be submitting the research and analysis section of your Final Paper. This constitutes the “meat and potatoes” of your intelligence report, meaning this is the most important section of your report. This is where you will present your research in a structured and well-mannered order and explain what your research indicates.; When making your assessment, you will be referring to ICD 203 Analytical Standards for proper verbiage in expressing likelihood and probability (pg.3 of Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 203, Analytic Standards). Be sure to review this information before completing this Research and Analysis section of your Final Paper.
Activity Instructions
Analyze your research to see how much of it can answer your intelligence requirement (your research question in this case) and substantiate your findings from your research in an intelligence assessment that answers your intelligence requirement. You need to properly collate and analyze your material. There is no set determined way to do this but many analysts use a comparative analysis approach while some use inductive or deductive reasoning. The approach depends upon the intelligence requirement, in this case, your intelligence research question. Remember, though you are being graded on this, expect feedback on how to make your analysis more tailored to answering your intelligence requirement. There are some additional links in the tips for success section that will help you with a comparative analysis approach, and inductive and deductive reasoning, keeping in mind that these are not the only methods.
Be sure to use ICD 203 Analytical Standards for proper verbiage whenever you express likelihood and probability. You must use valid sources and cite them properly. Please refer to the Final Paper Guide for further guidance on Research and Analysis. You will be submitting the Research and Analysis section of your Final Paper on a separate document that will be later integrated into the Final Paper Template. The professor will provide feedback on the depth of the analysis and research, so your report can be developed into more of a finished product. Ensure you continue to use endnotes citation methodology found in the Intelligence Source Citation Reference Guide.
At the end of your submission, include a brief Design Statement explaining the process and tools you used to develop your work. Your statement should be about a paragraph or so, in your own words (rather than formally written), and unique to this assignment.
