Consider yourself an expert who has been called in to discuss a business topic before a group of interested people. Because your time is limited, prepare a concise yet powerful presentation with effective visual and audio aids. The oral/recorded PowerPoint presentation should be brief, usually 5 – 10 minutes, and imagine that you are making this presentation in a formal business meeting with your boss and colleagues. Students must use voice-over PowerPoint slides, Audacity, ScreenPal (formerly Screen-Cast-O Matic), Microsoft Stream, or any recording software of their choice. There is no length requirement for the PowerPoint Presentation slides.
Choose ONE of the following topics to present:
• What is the current image/reputation of your workplace or institution? How can your workplace or institution improve its image/reputation?
• What kind of marketing works best with students on college campuses? Word of mouth? Internet banner advertising? Social media? Free samples? How do students prefer to get information about goods and services?
• Why should a company have a written email, web use, and social media policy? What stipulations/rules should be included in the policy?
• What is the career outlook in a field of your choice? Consider job growth, compensation, and benefits. What kind of academic or other experience is currently expected in your field? What qualifications should be added to your field?
Incorporate the following into the presentation slides:
1. Provide a cover slide with your name, course, and chosen topic.
2. Introduction slide: Your presentation should have an introduction.
3. Background: Provide background information associated with your topic.
4. Recommendations: Present at least three recommendations/alternatives. The presentation should have very specific, easily identifiable main ideas or points.
• Ensure each Recommendation has a clear heading and accurately explains each Recommendation.
• Be sure to justify/support your recommendations with research (in-text citations). In other words, your opinions must be supported by research.
• APA style in-text citations must be used throughout your recommendations.
5. Conclusion and Recommendation: Summarize your findings, discussing all alternative recommendations. Select which Recommendation you ultimately choose as a solution to the question.
• Do not let your presentation stop abruptly in mid-thought; there should be a thoughtful conclusion.
6. Reference slide: Provide a complete list of references using APA formatting (be sure they are in alphabetical order).
