An excellent paper will meet the following criteria. Applicable points will be taken off for errors and omission:
Case Summary Analysis/Solutions (50 points)
· Provides a clear and concise summary of sports governance issue, including the applicable problem and relevant issues such as legal, compliance, athlete rights, safety etc.
· Correctly identifies the issues to be decided, and previous or ongoing solutions. Do they work or not and the reasoning why?
· Development of your own solutions and why your suggestions may work. Including a thorough explanation why buttressed by solid sources and examples.
· Provides detailed analysis and response to potential rebuttals
· Realistic chances of your solution(s) working and why.
· Tying in the issue(s) you discuss to class, discussions and readings.
· Comparison to other relevant sports governance issues and situations that helped you form your own decisions.
Relevance to Sports Administration/Management (25)
· Correctly and thoroughly identifies and explains the relevance of the issue to sports governance, leadership and ethics.
· Correctly identifies and explains best practices for schools, leagues, and professional associations who may face this governance issue.
Quality of Writing (25)
· Demonstrates precise, professional language and word choice; uses well-structured and varied sentences.
· Contains no grammatical errors, including inconsistent tenses; subject/verb disagreement; dangling clauses; comma splices, run-on sentences, and sentence fragments.
· Contains no typographical errors or spelling mistakes.
· Correctly uses APA 6th Edition format for references (in-text and reference page), with no obvious errors.
· Conforms to the required APA format, including cover page, pagination, spacing and font size (Times New Roman 12-point, double spaced with one-inch margins please).
