In this module, you will complete Part 2 of your Final Project, in which you will perform an independent samples t-test and interpret. You will pick two variables – one independent categorical with two groups and one dependent continuous variable. I will review your submitted Part 2 and send back specific feedback on revisions needed so that you can revise and re-submit Part 2 with the other parts of the Final Project.
To Prepare:
- Review the GSS data set.
- Read the ‘How It Works’ 11.1 and 11.3 in the textbook.
- Add Part 2 to the already submitted Part 1 from Module 3. The Final Project should be a project that is added to for each submission.
Variables Required By Last Name:
A – H: marital status, r’s highest degree (degree), r’s socioeconomic index (sei10), realinc ****(MY LAST NAME BEGINS WITH A C SO THIS WOULD BE THE CHOSEN VARIABLE)*****
I – P sex, r’s highest degree (degree), r’s socioeconomic index (sei10), tv hours
Q – Z sexual orientation (SEXORNT), r’s highest degree (degree), presg10, realiinc
By Day 7
Using the same variables from your Part 1 Assignment, choose the appropriate variables to run an independent samples t-test (there should be 1 categorical variable with 2 groups and 1 continuous variable). Choose the first 5 scores for group 1 and group 2 in the categorical variable and the corresponding scores for the continuous variable. There will be a total of 10 participants (5 in Group 1 and 5 in Group 2). For example:

In 1-2 pages, give the following information. Use APA headings to separate each section of your analysis:
- Research Question
- Null and Alternative Hypotheses
- Identify the s Difference (standard deviation of differences between means – there are several steps here).
- Identify critical values and the Alpha (.05 will be the alpha always)
- Compute the t statistic
- Make a decision about the null
- Analyze the effect size
Show your work for all steps above. The steps and work should look JUST LIKE the steps in the book. I need to see exactly this on your assignment. If the steps are missing then points will be deducted.
Points: 55 points
