Is it cultural or material change that is more important? 1 1 unread reply. 1 1 reply.

Your task is to determine if Twenge is right! Watch her video explaining the thesis for her book.

  • Can
you see the intertwining of the material (structural changes in
society) and the ideational (changes in values, beliefs, and ideas) in
her argument? Give some examples that you might have thought of.
  • How much of a role do you see individualism play in our society today?
  • What
do you think of Twenge’s idea that life has slowed down when it comes
to growing into adulthood? Can you see it, or have you experienced it?
How much you want to share in regard to the last is up to you.

Conventions: Minimum
requirements are three paragraphs, one for each question. A paragraph
is considered to have a minimum of five sentences. Restating the
questions in your responses is not an answer. Needless to say, more than
one paragraph may be required to answer each question. Note that the
discussion board and journal carry more weight in the class than your
papers and quizzes. See the discussion board grading rubric for a full description of the grading criteria.
