CAPSTONE
Topic: Is the military preparing service members during and after service to be successful in life?
Writers will demonstrate their mastery by developing a substantial research paper, which will illustrate an academic analysis of a contemporary global issue in the area of leadership and workforce development. The field of workforce development and education includes technical education, instruction in business, human resources, vocational operations, and governmental operations.
Requirements
1. Students will produce a substantial research paper of no less than 2500 and no more than 3000 words. Word count does not include the title page or the references page(s).
2. The Capstone paper will follow current APA(7th) Style guidelines.
3. Minimum required sections of the paper include: an introduction (based on the student’s research proposal); a literature review of at least seven (7) scholarly sources; a section(s) which addresses the diversity, and ethical perspectives related to the topic; synthesis; and a conclusion.
4. Capstone paper may be argumentative or analytical. Selecting ANALYTICAL.
Analytical – The analytical research paper often begins with the learner asking a question (i.e., a research question) on which the learner has taken no stance. Such a paper is often an exercise in exploration and evaluation.
5. Incorporate scholarly resources and military curricula concepts, information, and knowledge.
Possible talking points:
Schools and certifications available during and after.
Retirement and VA disabilities.
Networking with agencies and contracting.
Military training and experience specific to job specialty.
Civilian education before and after
Transition assistance before and after.
Will Need the Following:
Topic Proposal
What to Submit: Topic proposal to include a thesis statement for argumentative papers or research question(s) for analytical papers.
Research Proposal
What to Submit: A 250–500-word Research Proposal which will later serve as the basis for the Capstone paper’s introduction. Students will also submit (using P930.09 Student Handout 1) the Literature Review Matrix (see Appendix A for an example) with Milestone 2.
Literature Review
What to Submit: A 750–1000-word Literature Review which includes a minimum of three (3) scholarly resources (final literature review will contain at least seven (7) scholarly references). The literature review for Milestone 3 will include: a title page, an introduction, body, summary/conclusion, and an APA formatted reference page.
Diversity & Ethical Perspective
What to Submit: Short essay (500-1000 words total) which covers associated Diversity (250- 500 words) and Ethical (250-500 words) Perspectives related to the selected topic.
Draft with Synthesis
What to Submit: Draft Capstone paper which includes the addition of a Synthesis section (250- 500 words) NOTE: The synthesis section of your capstone paper is not the conclusion for the paper. You must craft a distinct conclusion for your paper prior to final submission.
Submit Final Capstone Paper What to Submit: Final Capstone paper (2500-3000 words) which discusses a contemporary global issue in leadership and workforce development and addresses all Capstone paper requirements.
