Research Essay. This is a scholarly research essay engaging a subject that is addressed throughout the course by various theologians and church leaders. Examples would include Luther’s theology of the laity, Margaret Fell’s theology of women preaching, and John Wesley’s theology of the uplift of the economically marginalized. The essay is scaffolded in four steps. Those steps will be detailed below. Turabian formatting should be used, including gender-inclusive language, appropriate footnote citations and formatting, appropriate bibliography citations and formatting. Academic sources are to be used throughout, including academic books and journals. Any internet sources should be academic in nature. Primary sources are to be included.
The essay should include an abstract of 125-200 words.
Elements of the Paper
- The proposal will include a title, a brief of the issues, and a bibliography. Papers will include primary and secondary sources. The professor may require adjustments to the proposal.
- The completed essay will be 2000-2500 words, excluding the abstract and bibliography.
