Begin by completing the Module 3 Presentation Part I, making sure you have viewed all of the videos and read all of the articles provided in the presentation. In addition, make sure to review the scope of the team project.

Then, join your team for a group discussion on the various philosophies on giving.

Initial Post (Due Wednesday)

By Wednesday night at the latest, craft an initial post of approximately 250 words on the following:

  • Present a case to your teammates about which philosophy of giving (from the options in the Module Presentation) you believe is most important and why. Use at least two outside sources to bolster your argument.
  • In your case to your teammates, make sure to address the following:
    • How does the philosophy address effectiveness? What is the perspective on overhead? How does it aim to better a community, country, or humanity?
  • Remember, at this stage, you are not choosing a particular charity or organization. You are choosing one philosophy on how to approach giving.

Synthesis Post (Due Friday)

By Friday night at the latest, review all of your teammates’ arguments, reflect on their contributions, and create a new post that synthesizes the direction you think the group should go in:

  • What arguments have your teammates made that you agree and disagree with and why?
  • Who presented ideas that you hadn’t thought about before and how did that change your perspective?
  • Considering together all of your teammates’ perspectives, which philosophy of giving do you think your group should pursue?
  • How do you think your team should approach the idea of effectiveness?

Collaborative Team Post (Due Sunday)

By Sunday night, your team must come to a consensus on one philosophy of giving to pursue for this project. It may not be the one everyone chose, so you will have to think through how to compromise and agree. This may take some back-and-forth discussion with the group, so make sure to you are not a “social loafer” and are active in the forum, replying to others and following up to help your group reach a consensus. By Sunday night, designate one group member to post the following:

  • Our team’s chosen philosophy of giving is …. because ….. (give at least 3 reasons selected from your team’s best arguments on that philosophy).
