Lab Report: Signal Transduction – Effects of Gibberellic acid and Abscisic Acid on the Production of a-Amylase in Barley Seeds

Here is a detailed guideline to follow for the lab report, based on Lab 10. 
It should be in APA format, 12-point font, double-spaced, and with pages numbered.
Title page and appropriate title (5 points) 
 Introduction (30 points) Overview of signal transduction
Background information about the lab. Summarize the slides and the ‘introduction’ section in the lab manual (role of GA and ABA in germination, why potassium iodide was used (stops the reaction, interacts with starch to form a purple/blue color to measure absorbance), the relationship between starch, α-amylase activity, and absorbance). At least two citations should be included. 
For example, you can describe GA-induced germination from the figure on page 70 and cite that paper (Taiz and Zeiger, 2002). You can also describe the relationship between the concentration of GA that is added and the release of α-amylase (Jones and Varner, 1967).
In the last paragraph, you should include: (i) state the purpose of the experiment, (ii) a brief overview of the experiment, (iii) a proposed hypothesis, and (iv) describe how an unknown concentration of GA will be found in a sample. 
Methods (5 points)

Equipment and material used (spectrophotometer, test tubes, reagents, timer).
Describe the treatments (tubes 1-4 were negative controls, 5-9 were treated with varied concentrations of GA, 10-14 were treated with varied concentrations of GA plus ABA, 15 was the unknown).
Describe the procedure that you followed (what you did in the lab).
Data and Results (30 points)

Data table.
Graph 1 and Graph 2 (with a figure legend/caption for both graphs).
Calculation of unknown 

Discussion (20 points)

Restate the purpose of the experiment.
Summarize the results.
Describe how the unknown concentration in tube 15 was found. 

References (5 points): listed on page 75 in the lab manual. Only include the ones that are cited in your lab report.
