Students will be required to write a 20-25 page research paper, the topic of which must be approved. Deal with a particular concern of contemporary life that has a moral/ethical dimension.
Organization of the project:
The paper should be divided into the following sections:
Introduction– A brief statement of the problem or topic being examined, in which reference is made to the Capstone I themes or arguments upon which your in-depth Capstone II paper is based
Main Body- Containing the body of your research.
Conclusion– A final summation of your central points, conclusions, recommendations
Endnotes– Only if necessary!
Works Cited (Bibliography) – The material consulted and/or cited in the text. Use In-text parenthetical citations (not footnotes) when quoting, paraphrasing, or citing sources.
***Ideally include academic/literary sources (including books, newspapers of note, databases, authoritative journals, scholarly studies and surveys, and government sources), internet sources and first-hand data obtained through observation or interview. The extent to which this is accomplished naturally depends on the research topic.
When it come to cultural competency, it would be good to identify the bigger picture. U.S. culture manifests insensitivity in health care along several parallel and intersecting roads: racism in health care, callousness toward the foreign born in health care, and insensitivity to the non-English speaking patients/families in health care. All of these operate in the background of cultural competency in the healthcare system. Consequently, it would be important for you to uncover sources documenting this foundation.
