Leadership and Management Philosophy and Practices for Multidisciplinary Collaboration

The basic definition of multidisciplinary collaboration is working with professionals from other disciplines to serve a mutual client. However, there is much more to it. In multidisciplinary collaboration, there are philosophical aspects (for example, the rationale, respect for other perspectives while maintaining one’s own professional integrity) and practices (for example, the “nuts and bolts” of collaboration). A clear vision and plan for execution are necessary to be successful. In this assessment, you will compare the different ways leaders and managers view and practice multidisciplinary collaboration.

In the assessment, you will consider how leaders and managers view and practice multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • How does the vision and goal of multidisciplinary collaboration relate to the implementation of it?
• Compare how two different leadership styles view and justify multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • For example, how might an authoritative leader view multidisciplinary collaboration compared to a participative one?
• Analyze aspects of multidisciplinary collaboration between disciplines.
  • How might different professional perspectives influence collaboration?
  • What might be different if multidisciplinary collaboration incorporates interorganizational collaboration (professionals working within different organizations) compared to professionals from different disciplines working within one organization (such as in a hospital)?

Your assessment should also meet the following requirements:

• Written communication:
  • Convey purpose, in an appropriate tone and style, incorporating supporting evidence and adhering to organizational, professional, and scholarly writing standards.
  • Apply APA style and formatting to scholarly writing.
• References: Include at least two references per page from journals, a textbook, or a course reading.
