  1. The goal of the literature review to is to highlight important facts, relevant research, data, statistics, and reports that have been conducted about your chosen issue. Within it you will share the following:
    1. How is your issue defined and discussed in the literature?
    2. What is the historical context and current state of the issue?
    3. Be sure to include statistics and data to paint a clear picture of present reality.
    4. Relevance to social work or your professional practice.
  2. Your literature review should be 4-6 pages and must include at least 5 credible, relevant, and powerful sources pertinent to your issue. Sources should include academic peer-reviewed journals, course materials, first/personal accounts, documentaries, or newspaper/website articles. Be sure to include at least one source from our assigned course materials, particularly the textbook.
  3. Use the following points to guide you through completing the assignment:
    1. Provide an introductory paragraph explaining your topic
    2. Present relevant data and statistics to paint a picture, explaining the severity/current reality of the issue. Why is it a problem?

    4. What have researchers found in their studies that’s worth highlighting?
    5. From the research you explored, what is important for people to know?
    6. What suggestions have been made to address the issue?
    7. Discuss the implications of your research for professional practice, research, policy.
    8. Add a concluding paragraph summarizing key points.
