Thoroughly answer all of these questions to construct a loose “outline” of your narrative. We will work on practicing narrative techniques and fleshing this out into a draft next week in class.
Topic and Narrative Significance
What “skill” are you writing your narrative about?
Why is this skill important to who you are today? What did it teach you?
This will be your overarching “theme” for the essay
Scenes
What are the “scenes” that will comprise your essay and what order are you planning on putting them in?
Choose at least 3, but no more than 5.
Explain your choice for order (i.e. chronological, flashback, flashforward, etc.) and how it helps convey the overall message of your narrative.
Specifically consider how your opening will engage the audience and how your ending will reinforce your theme.
List some of the vivid or memorable details you plan to include in each “scene.”
What dialogue are you planning on including? What do you want the characters to say (either out loud or internally) within your scenes?
