meditations effect on students who suffer from anxiety here at Gavilan College only.

Assignment 1: Final Research Topic and Initial Literature
Review

1.     Final topic: Can a daily structured practice of meditation
significantly reduce anxiety symptoms, in individuals diagnosed with a
generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) that attend Gavilan College?

2.     The final topic that I have chosen is
meditations
 effect on
students who suffer from anxiety here at Gavilan College only.

3.     My three
sources:

1.

1.     Edenfield, T. M., & Saeed, S. A. (2012).

depression. Psychology Research and Behavior Management, 5(default),

4.     My final research topic is meditations effect
on anxiety
. My research question
is, “Can a daily structured practice of meditation significantly reduce anxiety
symptoms, in individuals diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
that attend Gilroy Gavilan College ?” I chose this topic because I have been
diagnosed with a anxiety disorder and was skeptical at first to use meditation
as a way of reducing the symptoms. Since then, I gave it a try and have seen a
significant reduction in my anxiety since I began meditation. Meditation
definitely helped reducing my anxiety symptoms which is why I chose this topic
to confirm what I lived out.

5.     The first source I chose is, “An update on
mindfulness meditation as a self-help treatment for anxiety and depression” by
“ Edenfield, T. M., & Saeed, S. A.” This review sdefine meditation and
mindfulness, and discusses the relationship between stress and health.
It also gives a brief review of the
issues related to the mechanisms of change and the dose-response relationship
regarding mindfulness meditation. The second source I chose is, “Meditation
Could Help Anxiety and Cardiovascular Health.” This review indicated its main
topic and finding was how one hour of mindfulness meditation was shown to
reduce anxiety and some cardiovascular risk signs. The third and final source I
chose is, “Effectiveness of Mindfulness Meditation on Depression, Anxiety, and
Stress among Undergraduate Nursing Students: A Quasi-experimental Study.
Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research” by  Anthony A. & Prasad“.
This reviews main finding was the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation on depression,
anxiety,  and  stress  among  undergraduate  nursing
students. These three sources are directly reflecting meditations effect on
people who suffer from general anxiety disorders. There is quite a population
of people who have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. My last source,
narrowed it down further, by them only researching nursing students. Which is
why I choose to narrow it further down as well, to just the students at Gavilan
college for researching purposes. I can compare those numbers before and after
each semester if I would like to narrow it down further. I am still determining
the in-depth approach I would like to take. However, my sources do provide the
information I need if I do take that route.

Gavilan College Students: Replacing Anxiety with Meditation
Study

Abstract

The study I have conducted

Introduction: Write an introduction, including a brief
literature review using the three scholarly sources you have already identified
and any others you find relevant. Here, you should clearly state your research
question and hypothesis.

Anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental health
challenges faced by college students today, often exacerbated by academic  pressures, social expectations, and financial
concern. According to ____mindfullness-based interventions, such as meditation,
have shown significant promise in reducing anxiety symptomsamong young adults.
Similary, ____highlighted that regular meditation practices enhance emotional
regulation and reduce stress levels. Furthermore, __ introduced mindfulness meditation
as a therapeutic approach, emphasizing its effectiveness in fostering mental
well-being.

This study aims to explore whether implementing meditation
practices can effectively replace anxiety among Gavilan College Students. The
research question guiding this study is: “Can regular meditation practices
significantly reduce anxiety levels among Gavilan College Students?” The
hypothesis is that students who engage in daily meditation will report lower
anxiety levels compared to those who do not participate in meditation
practices.

 The methods I will be
imposing for my study are as follows: When it comes to the participants, this
study will recruit 60 Gavilan College students aged 18-25 through voluntary
participation. Participants will be randomly assignedto either the experimental
group (no intervention) The

Methods: Detail your proposed method. If you’re conducting
an experiment or survey, explain your selection of participants, the
independent and dependent variables, your experimental design, and how you plan
to collect and analyze data. If you aren’t collecting your own data, provide a
comprehensive plan of how you would do it.

Results: If you’ve collected data, present your results
here. If not, acknowledge that no data was collected and this section is not
applicable.

Discussion: Discuss the potential implications of your
research. If you’ve collected data, interpret your results here. If not,
discuss what you anticipate the results could be based on your literature
review.

References and Appendix: Include a full list of references
in APA style. If you’ve created a survey, include this in the appendix. If not,
there is no need for an appendix.

Rubric for Final Paper with Survey/Experiment:

Title and Abstract (10 points): The title accurately
reflects the content of the paper. The abstract provides a concise summary of
the paper.

Introduction and Literature Review (20 points): The
introduction is engaging and states the research question. The literature
review is comprehensive and synthesizes research relevant to the question.

Methods (20 points): The chosen method is appropriate and
clearly described, including details on participants, variables, and
procedures.

Results (20 points): The data collected is presented clearly
and accurately.

Discussion (20 points): Results are interpreted correctly.
The implications of the findings are discussed, and potential limitations are
identified.

APA style (10 points): Paper strictly adheres to APA style,
including references and formatting.

Rubric for Final Paper without Survey/Experiment:

Title and Abstract (10 points): The title accurately
reflects the content of the paper. The abstract provides a concise summary of
the paper.

**Introduction and Literature Review (30 points)**: The
introduction is engaging and states the research question. The literature
review is comprehensive, synthesizing research relevant to the question. Extra
scholarly sources are incorporated to account for the lack of empirical data.

Methods (20 points): The proposed method is appropriate and
clearly described, including details on how participants would be selected,
variables would be handled, and procedures would be followed.

Discussion (25 points): Potential results based on the
literature review are discussed. The implications of these hypothetical
findings are outlined, and potential limitations of the proposed methods are
identified.

APA style (15 points): Paper strictly adheres to APA style,
including references and formatting. The appendix includes the hypothetical
survey questions if a survey method was proposed.

These rubrics are designed to be flexible and accommodate
the dynamic nature of the assignment. Remember that clarity, thoroughness, and
accuracy in presenting your ideas are key aspects in both cases. The two
versions of the assignment have different focuses, so be sure to stick to the
expectations set out in the relevant rubric. Good luck, and happy researching!

To be clear, journal articles are journal-style scientific
papers and focus on research by reporting the details of the research conducted
by the author(s). Accordingly, these articles contain sections that coincide
with the experimental process:  abstract,
introduction, methods, results, and discussion.

Be sure that the articles you find has these sections and
that the study was published within the last 15 years. Here is a good example
of what a journal article looks like: Journal Article ExampleLinks to an

The paper should be 7 pages at a minimum.

TurnItIn

TurnItIn will scan your work for plagiarism and AI writing.
Be very careful here. Here are a few key points you want to know:

TurnItIn is embedded into Canvas, so you do not need a
separate enrollment key.

Anything below 20% similarity or AI is considered
acceptable.

Anything between 20-40% similarity or AI will either receive
a low grade, or a student can request a rewrite submission. The rewrite
submission will receive a lower score than is turned in on time with a
similarity score lower than 20%, but will likely be higher than the original
score.

Anything above a 40% similarity or AI score will receive a
zero score, and the student will likely be referred to the Office of Student
Affairs for plagiarism.

To summarize, make sure you credit your sources and use your
own original work for the vast majority of your paper.
