I have been nominated for The Oak Tree Award (an award for educators).  I am a school counselor and need to respond to the prompt:

Teaching and Learning in Your Classroom Please describe how you meet the needs of your students. Address such areas as knowledge of your content area, classroom climate, teaching techniques, assessment methods, and classroom management skills. Why do you believe you are able to connect with your students?
Here are some ideas…
I am a counselor who belileves in connections and make students, paretns and teachers feel like they have pupose and belong.  I am humbled by the nomination.  I do not believe I am better than other staff or teachers.  I believe that I am a a great counselor beacuse of those people around me and learning from so many that I worked with in  the district at all levels for 15 years.  They have taught me patience understanding professionalism and the need to listen and work as a team.  I am in the point of my career where I am able to incorpate my passion for equity diversity and branch out to be a leader of clubs, member of committes and special assignments.  
Humor compassion understanding and non judemental are some of my skills.  Attaced is a list of some of my work
