Dissertation is splitted into 3 components. Component 1 is the research proposal which is already submitted. I will attach the file. (File name: research proposal 1 )
You only have to write component 2 and component 3.
Component 2 – 5000-8000 words
Component 3(Appendix)- 5000 words
Component 2
Thesis paper – 5,000 words min, 8,000 words max
The second assessment is a thesis paper in the style of a publishable, peer-reviewed journal paper of 5,000 to 8,000 words. It must be directly relevant to the student’s programme of study and it must set out a coherent academic argument or report. It must be a literature review. Depending on the student’s field of study, will follow an appropriate method of literature reviewing, which is to be a quasi-systematic review. This type of paper will exclusively draw on data from published sources, and it will draw on an established and justified approach to literature searching.
Recommended structure incl. recommended word count:
Abstract – 250 words (Aims, Background, methodology, results, conclusion)
Introduction (this can draw on your work in the proposal) – 750 words max
Introduction is already written. I will attach the file below. You can make changes in the introduction according to the rest of the essay if you want to. (File name: Dissertation intor and RQ feedback 061223 (2))
Methods (this will again draw on your work in the proposal) – 1,000 words max
Quasi Systematic Review
-
Research Design: Exploratory research design
-
Research Approach: Qualitative method
-
Research Philosophy: Interpretivism philosophy
-
Data collection:Secondary data only ( secondary data derived from primary research studies)
-
Data analysis: Thematic Analysis (Inductive)
Search Strategy (How will you search?)
- Databases to be searched, and why these
- Search terms to be used incl. Boolean operators
- In- and exclusion criteria
Results incl. Critical Appraisal (brief summary) – 2,500 words max
Critical Appraisal Strategy (Which critical appraisal framework or tool will you use?)
- Purpose of critical appraisal (exclusion of papers vs understanding papers)
- Tools you could use:
- Newcastle-Ottawa tools for observational studies (cohort, case-control or cross-sectional)
- Cochrane Risk of Bias or EPHPP for experimental studies
- CASP or Joanna Briggs for other study designs
Analysis & Discussion – 2,500 words max
Conclusions – 1,000 words max
Component 3
Appendix – 5,000 words max
The third assessment is an appendix of up to 5,000 words that you submit in one file with your thesis paper. The appendix will include a data summary sheet for each paper. It will also include the critical appraisal information, structured by the critical appraisal framework that you are using, for each paper that you reviewed.
The data summary sheet needs to address:
-
Full reference (does not count towards word count)
